Dog Blocker Ultra-Low Power Usage

April 11th, 2013

Dog Blocker ultra low voltageDid a bunch of detailed power usage tests which confirm the ultra-low power usage. While in normal dog monitoring mode, it only uses 59.6μA (microamps), or 0.0596mA (milliamps)! Including the status LED that flashes every 8 seconds and assuming 10 alarms per day, it adds up to an average of only 62.5μA. With standard AA alkaline batteries, this works out to about 5 years of constant usage (realistically, more like 3-4 years once battery self-discharge is factored in).
